- Establish the CoE vision: build the team, the capabilities, and the ways of working
- Permanent full-time position based at the Mascot Campus
- Lead the execution of all Loyalty marketing campaigns
Qantas Loyalty is an integral part of the Qantas brand, with a vision to be the most valued and trusted Loyalty ecosystem that makes every day more rewarding. Our business is dedicated to providing unparalleled value and benefits to our members—from earning points on flights and shopping to enjoying exclusive privileges. With a rich heritage and a forward-thinking approach, we continue to redefine loyalty in the aviation industry, setting the standard for excellence and innovation.
Your primary mandate is to design, run, and evolve a centralised engine room that services the broader Qantas Loyalty business. As the Head of Marketing Centre of Excellence (CoE), you will be accountable and responsible for a high performing team of specialised creative, marketing delivery and analytical resources. This role is accountable for the holistic performance of the CoE - which includes optimising for member and commercial outcomes, while appropriately managing the privacy, data and communications risk of this activity.
You will hold end-to-end ownership of the CoE’s design and operational delivery, serving as a key advisor to the Loyalty Leadership Team. Working in lockstep with the Head of Loyalty Marketing, you will act as the commercial arbiter for campaign prioritisation and resource allocation, ensuring that the COE delivery aligns perfectly with business objectives and multi-million dollar EBIT targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish & Evolve the CoE: Design and build the foundational strategy for the Centre of Excellence, including the organisational structure and the implementation of high-performance ways of working.
- Creative Excellence & Development: Champion the creative output of the brand by centralising and maturing Creative Development across all of loyalty. You will ensure high-impact visual storytelling and brand consistency across all member touchpoints by working closely with the internal creatives services team and external agencies. .
- Strategic Orchestration: Manage the day-to-day running of these centralised functions, including Creative services, Marketing, Operations, Campaign Analytics, and our Trading Desk, ensuring seamless, 1:1 personalised experiences for QFF and QBR members at scale.
- External Supplier & Partner Management: Act as the lead interface for external suppliers and agency partners. You will be responsible for selecting, managing, and evolving these relationships to augment our internal capabilities and ensure world-class delivery.
- Governance: Drive resource allocation and campaign prioritisation, through business alignment, data-driven insights, automation, and AI adoption. Ensure an optimal balance of commercial/customer value with an appropriate risk position.
- Business Evolution: Continuously modernise the Qantas Loyalty marketing stack, governing the frameworks that drive efficiency gains and keep our internal agency model at the forefront of industry standards.
- Budget Management: Full accountability for the CoE operational budget, including the strategic allocation of funds across internal resources and external partners. You will ensure maximum ROI on marketing spend, driving cost efficiencies while maintaining high-quality delivery standards.
- Strong Business Partnerships: Cultivate and leverage collaborative relationships with Technology, Delivery and Risk functions to advocate for marketing technology as a core performance enabler and streamlining the path from creative concept to technical execution through the Loyalty Ways of Working.
Desired Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence and professional maturity to bridge the gap between the CoE and the wider business:
- Advanced Stakeholder Management: The ability to navigate a matrixed environment, influencing senior leaders and commercial partners to align on priorities and resource allocation.
- Agency or CoE Leadership: Experience establishing or running an internal agency or a large-scale marketing operations function.
- Creative & Commercial Balance: A proven track record of upholding high creative standards while remaining laser-focused on commercial outcomes and EBIT targets.
- Risk Management: Experience in managing and/or operating with operational risk areas and stakeholders with risk capabilities
- Strategic Supplier Governance: Experience managing complex contracts and high-value relationships with external creative, media, and production agencies.
- Change & Budget Management: Resilience and agility in evolving business areas, with the ability to lead a team through the transition from "building" to "optimising." Managing a large budget in excess of $50m.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- 15+ years’ experience in marketing, media, digital or related disciplines in a large/listed corporation, marketing operations, project management, or agency account leadership within a large-scale corporate environment
- Tertiary qualification in Marketing or Business; Post-grad or double degree highly desirable
- Stakeholder Management: Superior ability to advise and influence C-suite leaders and senior commercial executives with proven ability to influence and negotiate with these key stakeholders through data-backed prioritisation
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to look at a complex pipeline of 50+ concurrent projects and identify the critical path
- Campaign Execution Authority: Deep expertise in leading end-to-end campaign lifecycles within a high-volume corporate environment
- Commercial & Financial Acumen: Ability to manage complex budgets and align operational activities to multi-million dollar EBIT targets
- MarTech & Platform Strategy: Advanced knowledge of marketing platforms, owned media channels, and technical product adoption
- Creative Studio Management: Proven skill in leading in-house creative teams to drive content excellence and cost efficiencies
- Strategic Prioritisation: Skill in leading difficult trade-off conversations to align marketing resources with commercial objective
- Change & Capability Leadership: Ability to redesign business practices and lead critical capability projects to maintain a competitive advantage
- High-Performance People Leadership: Experience coaching and leading large, diverse teams of creative and technical marketing experts
